I. Introduction

    Clueless in what airship shall you compose you fleet? What type of emplacement shall you arm your flagship? Well I, katy, shall teach you the art of war.
    Here you will learn what airships should you compose your 100k ton fleet and what emplacements to arm your flagship.

Why specialize?
* Making all type of airships costs a lot of skill points, specially when it comes to T3 ships.
* Balancing your fleet only gives you flexibility, no weakness, ne strength. Therefore specialized fleets get the upperhand on military skills. Even a mere 5% can determine win or lose in a 100k ton fleet battle. Although if you succeed to max up your military skills then balanced fleet would rock though i doubt anyone will ever get there.

* See this guide to know how difficult it is to get T3 ships and how impossible it is to max up military skills: http://forum.fo.igg.com/viewthre ... page%3D2&page=1

II. Charts

Legend:

Fs- flagship
Bs- battleship
Cr- cruiser
Ap- attack plane
Frig- frigate
Lat- lateral canon
Photon- charged photon canon
Beams- focused beam emplacement

III. Choices

a. Choosing your Airships

Here you can choose which type of fleet would you make.

1. bs-ap fleet (may contain cr)
2. bs-frig fleet (may contain cr)
3. ap-frig fleet (may contain cr)

notes:
* Adding cruisers to your fleet is essential. They instantly hit Flagship's HP rather than taking out the emplacements so they are very efficient(not to mention cruiser's incredible damage).
* Another thing about cruisers is that they deal best damage against land emplacements. Although they are not as good as frigates in taking out photons.
* If you plan to choose bs-ap or bs-frig fleet, making cruisers would be easy since both cruisers and battleships have medium armor so you are hitting 2 birds with one stone.
* Reason for specializing on 2 types of ships (excluding cruisers)  instead of only one is flexibility. See part V for more explanation.

b. Overview

Why choose such type of fleet? Why that? Why not?

1. bs-ap fleet
     *aps pawn both cr and bs so they are very usefull. Most players tend to have high tonnage of Bs so they are something to be considered.
     *aps are almost as good as cruisers in taking down photons.
     *bs protects your aps.
     *best pvp fleet(although weak in castle siege).

2. bs-frig fleet
     *frigs are the best ships in taking out photons.
     *bs are best defenesive airships since they pawn frigs.
     *frigs protects your bs.
     *flexible castle siege fleet(either defensive of offensive).

3. ap-frig fleet
     *frigs are the best ships in taking out photons.
     *aps are almost as good as cruisers in taking down photons.
     *making cruisers would be dificult for this type of fleet.
     *doesn't cost much skill points. light airship techs are cheap.
     *needs light shipyards to build so it would take ages to build this fleet.
     *best for castle siege.

IV. Flagship emplacements

    Now that you have specialized your fleet, its time to choose your FS emplacements. Emplacements function as replacement for your airships. Here's the overview:

   charged photon canon     --> attack plane
   lateral canon            --> battle ship
   focused beam emplacement --> frigate

Choices

1. Cover up your weakness
    bs-ap fleet   --> beams
    bs-frig fleet --> photons
    ap-frig fleet --> lats

   You gain flexibility and balance for this choice.

2. Choose your strength
    bs-ap fleet   --> lats and/or photons
    bs-frig fleet --> lats and/or photons
    ap-frig fleet --> photons and/or beams

   Maxamizing your damage. For example in bs-ap fleet, your accuracy and denseness should be high level so lats and photons would give out more damage.

3. Defensive measures.
    *emplace your FS with beams to protect your bs and cr. A fleet tends to have high tonnage of bs and cr.

4. Damage to the max!
    *emplace your FS with photons to achieve easy damage. Photons have the highest stats among emplacements.

5. FS defense!
    *make good investment on heavy armor and arm FS with lateral canons. Lats are protected with heavy armor so you are likely lose less emplacements. Although FS survival in a 100k ton fleet fight is slim. Defensive FS has better survival rate than Offensive FS. Be sure to make heavy FS instead of light FS. One star heavy FS is better than five star light FS.

V. Fleet Composition

    Choosing tonnage balance of airships of your fleet is completely your choice. It maybe balanced or specialized or depending on you FS emplacements. You just need to adjust to your opponent. It is important to know your enemy and hit their weakness. Spy on you army and study his skill tree to know his airship specialty and reserve airships. If your spy skill is too low, ask help from a strong player to spy on him. If you battle a balanced fleet, just focus on your strength. Specialized fleet fails when your opponent has the right ships to flunk your fleet. But you can outwit him by using only one type of ship or making your weakness your strength.

For example:

You specialize on bs-frig fleet.
   bs-frig vs bs-ap = fail
   pure frig vs bs-ap = equal (but not to mention you specialize on frig skills so you are likely to win)
   ap-frig vs bs-ap = success

just remember this:
  bs-ap   pawns bs-frig
  bs-frig pawns ap-frig
  ap-frig pawns bs-ap

1 bs tonnage = 1 cr tonnage = 3 frig tonnage = 9 aps tonnage

hmm.. never thought about specializing, i always just make a balanced fleet XD but i got 1 question. is it also better to bring a specialized fleet to the npc zone or could you better bring a balanced fleet there? and if it's better to specialize, which of the three specialisations should i pick?

@ everyone

glad you liked it.
charts link has been fixed now.
i purposely displayed those charts so people can weight the power of each type of ship and decide on their specialization.

@ RKwantos

npc fleets are always balanced, so a specialized fleet would be a good choice. you can even use only one type of ship! though bring some cruisers, they are very handy.

npc bosses only vary in FS emplacements picking their FS weakness would be a good choice, though it doesn't really matter long as u bring a 100k ton fleet of t2 or t3 ships.
